World Expo

The World Expo is a mega international exhibition orga- nized by a host government or relevant departments designat- ed by the government usually attended by many countries or international organizations. The intention is to share the latest human achievements in social, economic, cultural, and scientific fields. The first World Expo was held in London in 1851 to showcase world culture and industrial, scientific and technological achievements. In 2010, Shanghai successfully hosted the 41st World Expo, the first registered World Expo held in China. Under the theme "Better City, Better Life," the Shanghai World Expo attracted 246 countries and international organizations to present exhibits and received more than 73 million visits. The heavy-participation Expo painted a beautiful picture of harmony among various cultures and effectively promoted cultural exchange between people in China and other parts of the world.

The largest global event with the most economic and cul- tural influence, the World Expo has not only concentrated the achievements of human material civilization with record-setting world-class heritage, but also left a rich and enduring spiritual heritage that can be passed down through generations.
