Performing Arts Communication
Across China's long history of performing arts, they have been disseminated through two major channels: the domestic arena and overseas arena. Domestically, "les banquets for envoys," among other forms, have been organized for foreign cultural envoys in hopes that they can appreciate Chinese performing arts more deeply and absorb and introduce them back home. Overseas communication is mainly realized by "sending envoys abroad" to perform Chinese arts. Chinese dance and music are also subject to influences from India, Persia, and Central Asia. Performing arts of foreign origins have brought new aesthetic values to Chinese music and dance forms. Their profound and unique impacts can be seen in the musical instrument Pipa and Dunhuang Dance, which continue to be popular among Chinese people.
In modern times, Chinese performing arts have spread abroad on a larger scale. Local operas, traditional music and dances, martial arts, acrobatics, and other performing arts with distinctive Chinese cultural characteristics have constantly landed on the international stage, bringing profound enjoyment of rich artistic content to people in different countries and regions. A new window for the world to understand China was lifted open, and exchange and mutual learning of Chinese and foreign performing arts gained momentum.
