Ji Yunshi      

Governor of Hebei Province

Born in September 1945, college-educated Ji Yunshi is a native of Haimen City in east China's Jiangsu Province. He studied Physics at Shandong University from September 1964 and graduated from the university in August 1969 before starting work. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in August 1975.

In September 1970, Ji worked at the Xishan Mine in Suzhou City. From April 1971, he held the posts of worker, administrative staff member, workshop director and section chief at the Suzhou Light Industry and Electrical Machinery Plant. After May 1978, he served as deputy director and then director of the plant.

Ji has served as deputy director, deputy secretary of Party Committee and director of the Suzhou Second Light Industry Bureau since July 1980. Between August 1982 and July 1984, he took up the posts of deputy secretary and secretary of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) Jiangsu Provincial Committee. In July 1984, Ji served as deputy secretary of CPC Lianyungang Municipal Committee.

From June 1989, he held the post of vice governor of Jiangsu Province. In September 1998, he was elected as acting governor of Jiangsu at the fifth session of the 9th Jiangsu People's Congress. He served as governor of Jiangsu in February 1999.

In December 2002, Ji served as vice governor and acting governor of Hebei Province. In January 2003, he was elected as governor of Hebei at the first session of the 10th Hebei People's Congress.

He was an alternate member of the 15th CPC Central Committee and is currently a member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
