The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) had recently held a seminar to solicit the advice and suggestion from non-Communist members and personages with no party affiliation on the draft political report to be submitted to the 17th CPC National Congress, Xinhua learned on Saturday.

Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the seminar, at which members of China's non- Communist parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and non-party personages were invited to voice their opinion.

The non-Communist people said the draft political report took a clear stand and was meaningful and insightful, according to a press release from the seminar. They said it was the CPC's political manifesto facing the world and future, and the program of action to lead the people of all ethnic groups to continue efforts and achieve goals of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

They raised advice and suggestion on the country's reform and opening-up, sound and fast development of the national economy, among other issues.

Hu Jintao thanked the attendants for their opinion and requested the drafting team of the political report to study and take into consideration the remarks.

Hu said the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the sole right way for the development of China, adding such a way is the choice of history, of the people and of the era, and it is the prerequisite for more victories in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, accelerating socialist modernization, and rejuvenating the Chinese nation.

Jia Qinglin and Zeng Qinghong, who are members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the seminar.
