On October 15, Yang Jiechi, one of delegates to the 17th CPC National Congress and Chinese Foreign Minister, gives his views on President Hu Jintao's keynote speech at the congress. The report reflects the wisdom of the Party and accords with the demand of developing socialism with Chinese characteristics, he said. It is the Party's strategic deployment of all fields of work for the next five years, Yang added.
Over the past five years, according to Yang, China has been active in developing a multi-faceted diplomacy and has made notable progress.
The report includes a deep analysis of the world situation in great changes and adjustments, and expounds the connotation of building a harmonious world enjoying enduring peace and common prosperity. It will serve as a guide for future foreign affairs, Yang said.
"The road of peaceful development is a long-term strategy that China has to adhere to and it is also a long-term diplomatic policy. We will continue to develop friendly relationships and cooperation with other countries so as to safeguard world peace and promote common development."
