CPC diplomacy dossier: January 2006

6 to 15  Ngarleji Yorongar, Chad's Chairman of the Action Front for the Republic and his delegation visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

 

10 to 17 Tan Jialin, Assistant Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, represented the CPC at the 24th National Congress of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP), at the invitation of the JCP.

 

10 to 18         Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), paid an unofficial visit to China. He was there at the invitation of Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC and President of the Peoples Republic of China (PRC). General Secretary Hu held talks with General Secretary Kim Jong Il in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern, reaching an important and wide-ranging consensus. Hu said that the unswerving and strategic guiding principles for the CPC and the Chinese Government were the need to consolidate and move forward through friendship, good neighborly relations and cooperation with the DPRK. He also pointed out that the Chinese side will work together with the DPRK to further enhance cooperation. The goal is to bring additional benefits to the two countries and their peoples and contribute further to peace, stability and prosperity in Northeast Asia and in the world at large. Wu Bangguo and Wen Jiabao, both members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, also had meetings with Kim.

 

11 to 15          Somsavat Lengsavad, Central Committee Member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and his delegation visited China at the invitation of the CPC. Wu Guanzheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, met with the delegation. Wu said that the CPC was ready to further increase exchanges and cooperation with the LPRP. The two sides could learn from each other's experience of managing state affairs and push forward stable and cooperative relations between the two nations on a long-term basis.

 

12 to 17         A Delegation from the Party for the Transformation of Honduras, led by Armando Funes, member of the Political Bureau of Honduras, visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.

 

14 to 21         A delegation of parliamentary deputies from the Panhellenic Socialist Movement headed by Dimitris Reppas visited China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. He Luli, Vice Chairperson of the National People's Congress met with the delegation.

 

15 to 18         A Direction-Social Democracy party delegation from Slovakia, led by Party Leader, Robert Fico, visited China at the invitation of the CPC. He Yong, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CPC met with the delegation.

 

19 to 22         Gorbai László, Leader of the Social Democratic Party of Hungary, visited China at the invitation of the CPC and had a meeting with Liu Yunshan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

 

30 Jan to 5 Feb      Zhang Zhijun, Deputy Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, attended a meeting of the Socialist International Council in Greece. He was there as the CPC representative at the invitation of Socialist International. He went on to attend the Munich Conference on Security Policy in Germany as the Chinese Representative.
