Mamma Mia! Hits Beijing
Adjust font size:

20 years since the legendary Swedish Band ABBA first performed in front of a live audience, Mamma Mia!, a musical incorporating ABBA's chart-toppers into a moving story, came to Beijing on August 7.

Beijing is the second stop of the smash hit's China tour, following Shanghai, the Beijing News reported.

With light and humorous plots, beautiful songs and grand choreography, Mamma Mia gave the Poly Theater an unforgettable evening on Tuesday.

The story revolves around Sophia and her mother, Donna. Sophia is about to marry her fiancé, Sky, and wants her father to give her away at her wedding. The only problem is she doesn't know which of her mother's three former suitors he might be. So she invites them all to the wedding without Donna's knowledge.

Among the audience were Taiwan musician Jonathan Lee (Li Zongsheng) and female singer A Duo from the Chinese mainland.

The musical first premiered at the Prince Edward Theatre in London in 1999 and has since been seen by over 30 million people around the world.

It will run for two weeks from August 7 until 19.
