Hong Kong Filmart Brings More Buyers This Year
The Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (Filmart 2002), a film fair which was concluded last Friday, attracted 1,612 buyers from 40 countries and regions, an increase of 35 percent over last year, a trade official said Wednesday.

As a result of a proactive marketing strategy, this year's Filmart has brought in more quality buyers from around the world, especially those from new and emerging markets, Rachel Chan, senior services promotion manager of Hong Kong Trade Department Council, said.

"We are glad to see the positive results of the Filmart, signifying its status as the first-choice platform for sourcing films and TV programs in the region," she said.

According to an independent survey conducted by AC Nielson during the fair period, all exhibitors interviewed were satisfied with the business outcome they achieved in Filmart, Chan said.

A total of 190 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions participated in the fair, an increase of 45 percent over last year.

According to Chan, the next Filmart will be held from June 25 to 27, 2003 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.
