Kenny G, the "King of the Saxophone," will visit China in October, giving four performances in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing, the China Performing Arts Agency (CPAA) said in Beijing Monday.
The world's best-selling musician, Kenny G, has sold over 70 million records around the globe. He has been the recipient of many prestigious awards including a Grammy, American Music Awards, the Soul Train Award, and the World Music Award.
On Dec. 1, 1997, Kenny G also set a Guinness World Record by holding the longest sustained musical note in history, an "F" flat on his soprano sax for a total of 45 minutes and 47 seconds.
According to the CPAA, Kenny G began playing the saxophone in his middle school days, and became a professional player after graduating from university. In 1982, his first release entitled "Kenny G" was produced, and "a new era in instrumental music was launched," the CPAA said.
During the forthcoming China visit, Kenny G will promote his new release titled Paradise.
