A total of 176 Chinese translators were honored with the title of "Senior Translator" by the Translators' Association of China at a reception in Beijing Tuesday.
The translators, awarded senior status based on decades of translating social scientific works, were praised as having promoted "understanding and friendship between China and the rest of the world."
Li Tieying, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and also president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Xu Jialu, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) sent letters of congratulation to the reception.
