China's film and TV industry is going for the money and the international market. Encouraged by the success of six industry fairs in Shanghai, organizers in Beijing are upbeat about the first China International Fair for Radio, Film and TV.
Stars and production companies from all over the world gathered at the Beijing Exhibition Center to promote their latest offerings. Big names such as Rene Lau, Kenny Bee, Qin Hailu, Zhao Baogang and Zhang Jizhong were there to talk up their performances to potential buyers.
Actor Kenny Bee said, "I had a role in the TV series 'Lang Shining: Western painter in the Chinese Palace.' The story covers three periods of the Qing Dynasty, about 1700 years ago. I played Emperor Yong Zheng in the middle period."
Actor Rene Lau said: "I came to this fair to promote my latest TV series 'From the Ocean: The Legend of Zhang Ailing'."
Six main events highlight this year's fair. They are the China film and TV series marathon, the Beijing Exhibition of Broadcast and TV Equipment, the Flying Apsara and Starlight Awards, the China Huabiao Award for best film performances, the Beijing Screening festival, and the International Conference of Broadcast and TV Technologies.
The International Fair for Radio, Film and TV aims to become the largest event in this field in Asia, and its ultimate goal is to become one of world's best trade and communication platforms for the industry. The fair will be held annually in Beijing in the future.
