Nine HK Top Movie Stars Contribute Handprints to Avenue of Stars

Nine Hong Kong top movie talents have contributed handprints to HK's another future tourist attraction the Avenue of Stars.

The first hand imprint ceremony for the Avenue of Stars, based on Hollywood's famous Walk of Fame, was held Thursday. The avenue is being built on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront promenade.

Jimmy Wong, Ti Lung, Woo Fung, Michael Hui, Connie Chan, Tso Tat-wah, Raymond Chow, Chor Yun and Patrick Tse dipped their handsinto wet concrete to immortalize their celebrity status on the walk.

All are household names in Hong Kong who have helped make Hong Kong film industry one of the world's biggest. They were selected by the HK Film Awards Association by voting.

Tourism Board Chairman Selina Chow, New World Group Chairman Cheng Yu-tung, Commissioner for Tourism Eva Cheng, Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Anissa Wong and HK Film Awards Association Chairman Manfred Wong were present at the event.

The construction of the Avenue of Stars was initiated by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the project began in June, 2003.

The New World Group has promised to offer 40 million Hong Kong dollars (US$5.18 million) for the designing and building of the project.

The next two hand-imprint ceremonies are scheduled for Novemberand December. The avenue will open to the public in the second quarter of next year.
