A retrospective exhibition of Chinese movies has been unveiled for the Chinese Culture Year in Paris, which was launched last month. The movies are being shown in the French Movie Documentary Gallery in a bid to promote Chinese culture in France.
Wild Rose, a silent movie from the 1930s accompanied by a French pianist was the first work shown in the exhibition. More than 100 Chinese films ranging from the silent movies of the 1930s to art-house films of the 1980s were selected by Chinese and French experts. Organizers hope this wide-ranging display of Chinese film history will play a key role in promoting mutual understanding between the People’s Republic of China and France.
