More than 150 masterpieces drawn by famous contemporary Chinese artists were put on show in Macao Friday, which included the debut of authentic works made by Chinese revolutionary forerunner Sun Yat-sen and his wife Song Qingling.
Macao is the third leg of the show, which was opened in Beijing on October 30 and moved to Taipei in November. The art show jointly organized by the Song Qingling Foundation, Taiwan Pacific Culture Fund, the Macao Foundation will later continue its tour to Hong Kong.
With an aim for classifying top-notch masterpieces made by contemporary artists from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the show is a showcase of the blood tie and the common cultural and artistic roots of the Chinese nation, said Liu Bingsen, a renowned Chinese calligraphy writer.
Spotlights of the show were a calligraphy work written by Sun and the drawing of chickens made by his wife Song, which was at their initial exposure to the public during the tour.
Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), Ma Man Kei, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Bai Zhijian, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR attended the opening of the show.
