An exhibition held in Beijing on Feb.18 demonstrates the style and technique of modern Chinese female sculptors.
The 60 pieces were turned out by the first-class female sculptors since the founding of new China. All were educated at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in the 1950's and 60's.
A unique perception of artistic aesthetics are expressed in their sculptures. Noteworthy works include the white marble sculpture "A Child's Heart". The copper works "Mother and Son", and "The Backbones" portray heroes of the 1998 flood. The exhibition will go to Shanghai during "March the eighth International Women's Day" holiday.
