A special set of stamps featuring green, blue and white peacocks will be issued from Dai-Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture of Dehong, southwest China's Yunnan Province, known as "kingdom of peacocks", on April 13.
They will be the first special stamps ever issued featuring peacocks in China. And a complete set will consist of two separate stamps and one souvenir sheet, said Lu Xianfu, director of Yunnan Provincial Bureau of Stamps and Souvenirs.
The State Postal Administration has issued eight sets of stamps featuring subjects such as Dali scenery, the ancient city on Lijiang River, and gibbons from this southwest Chinese province in the past five years.
Apart from peacocks, the administration will also issue two other sets of stamps on Meconopsis integrifoloia, a special flower unique to mountainous areas of Yunnan, and rain forest in southern part of the province, said Sun Yao, secretary-general of Yunnan Provincial Association of Philately.
