Historical Currency Unveiled in Guangzhou

A bank note with par value of 6 billion yuan has been unveiled in south China's Guangzhou city.

It was issued in 1949 during the Chinese Republican period by Temporal Xinjiang Provincial Bank.

Equal in size to the current one yuan paper note, the historical piece of currency has maroon flower patterns on a white background, and a head portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the great revolutionary forerunner printed in the center.

An expert on ancient currency from the Guangdong Museum has validated the note as authentic.
