"Should I pack more clothes for my trip?" This is a common question people ask before they travel abroad. Now they could find the answer from the website of the Hong Kong Observatory: http://www.weather.gov.HK/aviat/airportwx/.
As part of its effort to enhance its weather services on the Internet, the Hong Kong Observatory launched a webpage showing weather at airports around the world on Thursday.
The new webpage provides such information as the forecast of weather, and the minimum and the maximum temperatures for airports. They are based on the official weather information received from international airports that issue weather reports and forecasts regularly.
In late 2002, the Observatory launched a webpage on World Weather Information. It contains weather information for more than 800 cities around the world. Now added to the list is the weather information for more than 1,000 airports worldwide from the webpage on World Airport Weather.
"Summer is coming. It is a high season for vacation overseas. We hope that this webpage will help people, particularly travelers, get hold of the weather at destination airports as they draw up their itineraries, enabling them to take along appropriate clothes and gear for their trips," said Lui Wing-hong, chief experimental officer of the Observatory.
