Three dinosaur egg fossils recently donated by an American-Chinese couple are expected to be on display in the provincial museum located in Harbin, capital city of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, during the coming Children' Day vacation around June 1.
The three egg fossils are all well preserved, according to the experts with the provincial museum.
The fossils, enwrapped with rimous shell and surrounded by reddish-brown fossilized soil at the bottom, where the dinosaurs laid eggs originally, were identified as deriving from central China's Henan Province and dating back to 65 million years ago.
"It's rare to find such dinosaur egg fossils, and they offer precious material proof for the study of the existence and extinction of the dinosaurs," said Yang Xiujuan, an associate researcher with the museum.
The donors happened to find the fossils in a free market in the United States and bought them without hesitation on hearing they came from China.
So they decided to send the national treasure back in a special trip after contacting the domestic department concerned in China via the Internet.
