For a comprehensive understanding of China's folk art, visitors may go to the sixth Chinese Folk Art Festival scheduled for September 26-30 in north China's Shanxi Province.
To be held in the 3,000-year-old Yuci district of Jinzhong City, the festival would present a folk song and dance performance, an exhibition of exquisite handicrafts, a show of clothes of Chinese ethnic minorities, an exhibition fair of fine works of art and a show of photos of folk customs, according to the organizing committee.
Other features include a forum on preserving folk cultural heritage, to be attended by heads of counties and cities, and the opening of a China Folk Culture and Art Museum.
The festival is jointly sponsored by the China Folk Literature and Art Society and several other organizations.
