Chinese President Hu Jintao says the country will further expand international cooperation to ensure the full protection and appropriate utilization of cultural and natural heritages.

He said this in a message at the opening of the 28th session of the World Heritage Committee being held in east China's Suzhou city.

The president urges all the signatory countries to better protect the common heritage properties of mankind.

Regarding China's efforts in this respect, Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili says heritage protection will remain a priority of the Chinese government and China will continue to fight against all kinds of illegal activities that threaten heritage conservation.

She says China has set up a principle which places conservation and salvation of heritage as a top priority and calls for reasonable utilization and strengthened administration of the heritages.

In addition, the official notes China is making more efforts to improve relevant laws and regulations for better heritage protection.
