China Youth University for Political Science (CYUPS) has set up a Marxism college to strengthen the ideological and theoretical research of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The China Marxism College, attached to the CYUPS, will conduct research into ideological and political theory and carry on ideological education on Chinese young people, said a source with the CYUPS, the top educational institution of the Communist Youth League.
The source said the newly established college represents the Party's effort to strengthen the buildup of Marxist theory. Senior CPC officials have called for greater efforts to promote the sinicization of Marxism and to explore the new horizon of Marxism in contemporary China.
Wei Jianhua, director of the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau of the CPC, will concurrently become the president of the Marxism college. Shi Zhongquan, former deputy director of the Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee, will head the Marxism research center under the CYUPS.
