Some college students or college graduates want to ease the employment pressure by getting married.
Zhang Jie, manager of the Mengyuan Matchmaking Agency in Beijing, said the number of people who come to the office to look for potential spouses had increased by 30 percent compared with one month ago.
"Every day, about 10 customers come into our office, and two of them want to marry quickly," Zhang said. "About 8 percent of them are college graduates. At our branch office in Haidian District, college students account for 10 percent of the total customers, a higher proportion than in other districts in Beijing."
Ever-increasing work pressure has been cited as one reason for the surge.
