A group of Chinese celebrities, including Hong Kong star Maggie Cheung, famous hostess Yang Lan and mainland music producer Zhang Yadong, paid a visit to poor children in a remote village in southwestern China's Yunnan Province on Friday.

The Guangzhou-based newspaper 'Nanfang City News' reported that they came to participate in a charity project jointly launched by the United Nations International Children's Fund and the China Association for Science and Technology. The project is called, "Realizing Children's Dreams".

Speaking at a local school, visiting homes and playing games with the children, the stars tried to bring a little joy to the village.
