China will host the 29th world music education conference in August, 2010, the China Conservatory of Music and International Society for Music Education (ISME) have announced.
The conference, with the theme of "harmony and the world's future", is aimed to promote understanding and harmony among different nations, nationalities and social groups through music education, organizers said. Events will be held in several cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Changchun, Shenyang, Kaifeng and Qingdao.
More than 2,000 musicians, experts and delegates are expected to attend the two-week meeting, during which more than 40 concerts and 100 seminars will be held.
Established in 1953 under the auspices of UNESCO, ISME leads and supports music education worldwide, and has more than 80 countries and territories as members. The 28th ISME world conference will be held in Italy in 2008.
