The group comprises 4,200 people living along the banks of Heilongjiang and Wusulijiang rivers in east Heilongjiang Province. The Hezhen is the only ethnic group in China mainly engaged in fishing. The Hezhen people generally use their own spoken language and the Han Chinese script.
