Chinese martial-arts superstar Jet Li's new charity fund, the One Foundation, has donated 100,000 yuan (US$13,085) to the earthquake-hit citizens in southwestern Yunnan Province.
An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale hit the Ning'er county of the Pu'er city on Sunday Morning, injuring more than 300 people. As of Tuesday, three people have been confirmed dead, including a four-year-old boy.
Jet Li contacted his fund partner, the Red Cross Society of China, immediately upon hearing the news. The donation arrived at the disaster-hit area on the second day of the quake, according to one-foundation.com, the official website for the fund.
It is reportedly the first donation since the fund was established in mid-April.
Jet Li, who survived the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004, said earlier that he hoped the One Foundation would extend first-aid to disaster-stricken victims.
