Chinese actor, Aloys Chen Kun, on Thursday donated 100,000 yuan (US$13,200) to his flood-struck hometown, Chongqing, the Chongqing Business reported.
The actor, who is currently shooting a film in Hong Kong, learned about the disaster from a local newspaper and then told his agent to make the donation, the report said.
At the same time, Chen also put a short video on his official website, calling on his fans to do their bit for people in the disaster-hit area.
With the help of the Chongqing Business newspaper, the agent found an international disaster relief institution and finished the donation on Friday, the report added.
More than 6 million people were affected and 290,000 people were evacuated, after heavy rains on Monday lashed Chongqing Municipality and triggered landslides and mud flows in 33 districts or counties in the southwestern city.
