Chinese actor-turned-director Jiang Wen unveiled three posters for his new film The Sun Also Rises on Thursday, the day the film was announced as one of the contenders in the Venice Film Festival.

The posters, in English and Chinese, will be displayed during the festival which runs from August 29 to September 8.

Jiang Wen is one of the most exciting and important figures in Chinese film today, and has been dubbed the dominant male performer of his generation on the mainland.

His directorial works have won many prizes, such as the Grand Prix at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival.

This year will be the second time Jiang visits the Venice festival as a director. In 1994, he took his directorial debut, In the Heat of the Sun, and won the best actor prize for its young lead, Xia Yu.

Jiang's new film has been slated for public release in China on September 21.
