Cast members of film director Alexi Tan's latest work Blood Brothers, including Hong Kong heartthrobs Daniel Wu and Shu Qi, Taiwan actor Chang Chen, and Liu Ye and Sun Honglei from the Chinese mainland, arrived in Beijing to promote the movie on Sunday, August 12.
Although director Alexi Tan is unknown, the films big name cast has been attracting widespread attention, especially with John Woo as producer. And Blood Brothers has been selected to close the upcoming 64th Venice Film Festival on September 8.
Inspired by John Woo's masterpiece, Bullet in the Head, the gangster film tells the story of the events of a group of friends and the loss of their innocence in 1930s' Shanghai. It not only sheds light on gang life, but also contains a lot of spice with the blossoming relationships between gangsters and dancers.
Although Daniel Wu recently injured his leg while studying in America, he also attended the press conference on Sunday afternoon.
At a publicity press conference, director Alexi Tan said he learned much from working with the film's three male actors.
"Daniel Wu has starred in many Hong Kong movies; Liu Ye has co-operated with lots of mainland directors; and Chang Chen has acted in many Taiwan films. So cooperation with these three is a brand new experience for me. Directing this movie has also helped me learn something new."
Blood Brothers is set to premiere across the country on August 16.
