Forest Fires in Heilongjiang Put out

Firefighters have put out five fires in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province that have devoured nearly 10,000 hectares of forests since September 29 in Nenjiang County.

The provincial forest fire control headquarters are now checking the fire fields for any further potential fires and are investigating the damage.

The State Forestry Administration and the provincial forest fire control headquarters are conducting on-the-spot investigations to look for suspects and the cause of the fires. Six suspects have been detained so far.

During autumn, forests in northeast China are at a higher risk of outbreaks of fire with relatively high temperatures and strong winds. The State Council, has asked for a greater awareness of this situation and a strengthening of surveillance and preventative measures.
