Yunnan Controls Pollution in Dianchi Lake

Yunnan Province is expected to accomplish its project to control the pollution in the Dianchi Lake with a World Bank loan of 1.638 billion yuan by the end of this year. Some 72.2 percent of the investment has so far been completed.

According to the lake management authorities, 12 sub projects will be completed by the end of the year, or even ahead of time, except for the drainage system in the Beijing Road. Upon completion of the project, the water supply capacity of Kunming will rise to 865,000 tons a day from 695,000 tons a day.

The city's sewage disposal capacity will increase from 365,000 tons a day to 555,000 tons a day.
