Shenyang Makes Environmental Impact Assessment of Foreign Species

The environmental protection administration in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, in collaboration with five other departments has worked out temporary rules for the control of foreign species.

The five municipal departments are the rural development bureau, the forestry bureau, the urban construction bureau, the urban administrative control bureau and the customs.

According to the rules, all those foreign species that are listed on the nation’s catalog for invading species are forbidden to enter the city.

Those who wish to introduce species that are non-existent in Shenyang’s ecological environment have to apply to the environmental authorities who will organize scientists to assess the risks.

The city will adopt quick actions towards those foreign species that have already invaded into the city’s environs with biological, chemical, physical and mechanical means and have stricter market control.
