Rainstorm Hits Guizhou, Killing at Least One Person

A heavy rainstorm hit parts of southwest China's Guizhou Province Wednesday, leaving at least one person dead, according to local government sources.

The provincial flood control office said floods that resulted from the heaviest rainfall so far this year have caused big damages. Some 556,000 people in 67 towns were affected, and 28.67 hectares of farmland were damaged.

In addition, 128 water control facilities were destroyed, and 120 highways were cut off. At least 26 local enterprises were forced to stop production.

The provincial meteorological station forecast rains will continue in coming days.
