Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), stressed the importance of the united front and national unification in winning the victory of the anti-Japanese war at a symposium held in Beijing.
All the patriotic forces have made contributions to the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, said Jia at a symposium marking the 60th anniversary of the victory of the war at the Great Hall of the People on Saturday.
People of nationalities in China, including compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan took an active part in the anti-Japanese war, rendering powerful support to the victory of the war, Jia said.
Jia expressed respect for the Chinese who had died in the war, saying "The nation and people will never forget the contribution and sacrifice made by these people including compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
The victory of the war indicates that patriotism is the powerful source and pillar of the Chinese nation in overcoming all difficulties and moving forward, he said.
