The US military released more than 350 detainees from US-run prisons in Iraq, the military said in a statement on Monday.

"More than 350 male detainees were released from Theater Internment Facilities on March 18," the statement said. The Combined Review and Release Board (CRRB), an Iraqi-led committee, has reviewed the detainees' cases and recommended them to be released, it added.

The CRRB was established in August 2004 and consists of members from ministries of Human Rights, Justice and Interior as well as officers from Multi-National Forces.

The joint board has reviewed cases of more than 29,800 detainees, recommending more than 15,600 individuals for release from US military prisons, the statement said.

US military facilities in Iraq include the notorious Abu Ghraib in Baghdad, Camp Bucca near the southern port of Um Qasrand Fort Suse in the northern Sulaimaniyah area.
