Gong Songlin tallied a game-high 37 points and collected 5 rebounds to boost the Fujian Xunxing SBS to a road win, 106-92, over the Xinjiang Flying Tigers Wednesday.
Sun Tiannong netted 29 points on 10-of-11 shootings in the win for Fujian, who has extended its wining streak to four games. Chris Porter contributed a double-double with 26 points and 6 rebounds, and he also had 6 assists and 6 steals.
Jin Lipeng paced Xinjiang with 26 points. Liu Tie had 20 points and Xu Guochong added 11 points for the Flying Tigers, who have lost two games in a row.
Former Xinjiang player Gong Songlin scored the first 6 points for Fujian and led the SBS to a 35-19 advantage into the second quarter.
Sun Tiannong found his rhythm in the second period and his 4 points for Fujian capped the first half at 67-38.
Jin Lipeng and Liu Tie managed to cut the deficit to 10 points but the Flying Tigers failed to control the inside play and they were outrebounded by the visitor 43-28.
"Xinjiang sort of took the game lightly and we had made pretty good preparation for it.“ Gong Songlin said.
Xinjiang could have clinched the third berth in the playoff season behind Beijing and Guangdong if they had won this game. They will take on Yunnan in the next round.
In other games, Bayi defeated Liaoning 104-95, Jilin beat Zhejiang 97-94, Beijing edged Shanghai 112-110, Dongguan routed Shandong 121-103, Guangdong won over Hennan 102 and Yunnan beat Shaanxi 120-117.
