General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Jiang Zemin's May 31 speech at the Party School of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee has had repercussions among Party members and cadres in provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities throughout the country.
Various conferences and workshops have been held to discuss Jiang's speech before a group of regional and ministerial officials at the party school.
In the speech, Jiang further elaborated on his "three represents" theory and urged that China needs new ideas and breakthroughs in the fields of reform and opening-up, so as to improve the national economy and the overall national strength.
During the discussions, it was widely agreed that the speech goes with the times and is in line with the Chinese people's wish of further economic development and improvement of living standards.
It was also agreed that all Party members should take Jiang's speech as a guide for their actions and adapt the theory to local situations in order to further reform state-owned enterprises, advance agriculture while maintaining sustainable development and social stability.
