In September 1941, Ma Baoyu, Hu Delin, Hu Fucai and two other soldiers of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Area led the enemy troops to the cliffs of Langya Mountain in west Yixian County, Hebei Province, in order to cover the troops’ and civilians’ evacuation. In the end, the five soldiers smashed their weapons and jumped down from the cliff. Three of them died. Shown here are the two surviving soldiers, Ge Zhenlin (right) and Song Xueyi (left).
