The Press Office under the Ministry of Health published Tuesday afternoon a press release on the latest SARS situation on the Chinese mainland. All provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities on the mainland reported a total of 159 new SARS cases with 12 patients recovered and 5 deaths.

Guangdong reported 13 new cases, 1 patient recovered
Beijing reported 106 new cases, 3 patients recovered and 3 deaths
Shanxi reported 22 new cases, 7 patients recovered
Inner Mongolia reported 3 new cases
Henan 3 new cases
Jilin 4 new cases
Shaanxi 1 new case
Tianjin 5 new cases, 2 deaths
Shandong 1 new case
Hubei 1 new case
Fujian reported 1 patient recovered.
By 8 pm of April 21, China had a total of 2,158 SARS cases (including 480 medical workers), which included 1,213 patients who had recovered and been discharged from hospital and 97 deaths.
Among these figures, a total of 1,330 cases (involving 332 medical workers), including 1,137 recovered and 48 deaths, were reported in Guangdong
A total of 588 cases (involving 99 medical workers), including 46 recovered and 28 deaths, were reported in Beijing
141 cases (involving 45 medical workers), including 13 recovered and 7 deaths, were reported in Shanxi
33 cases (involving 4 medical workers), including 6 deaths, were reported in Inner Mongolia
14 cases including 8 recovered and 3 deaths were reported in Guangxi

In addition, a total of 111 suspected cases were reported from across the mainland Tuesday. By 8 pm of April 21, the total number of suspected cases nationwide was 918, including 78 from Guangdong, 666 from Beijing, 73 from Shanxi, 1 from Guangxi, 58 from Inner Mongolia, 2 from Hunan, 8 from Sichuan, 8 from Shanghai, 1 from Henan, 2 from Jilin, 2 from Gansu, 7 from Hebei, 5 from Shaanxi, 2 from Tianjin, 1 from Xinjiang, 1 from Chongqing, 1 from Jiangsu and 1 from Guizhou.
