Hebei Province in north China has continued to invite outside investment despite canceling its annual economic and trade fair due to the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic.
The province formally started its investment campaign Wednesday on the web site www.hebiic.gov.cn, an open-door commerce network for investment and cooperation.
"This on-line campaign, focusing on project recommendation along with negotiating, information exchange and product display, will be permanent," said Cui Jiangshui, director of the province's "Opening-up" office.
More than 1,000 province-level projects and foreign investment projects from cities, counties and development zones will be released on the website, featuring face-to-face negotiating on-line.
The website will also provide more than 20,000 of the latest scientific research findings offered annually by over 200 Chinese universities.
Containing six page layouts in complex and simplified Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and French, hebiic.gov.cn has established links with over 30 commercial websites, including chinausbiz.com, world Chinese business network and tradepartners.gov.uk.
