China detected 5,683 persons with different kinds of diseases among entry-exit personnel in the first half of this year, including 290 persons with HIV, said sources with the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine on Thursday (SAQSIQ).
Ge Zhirong, vice minister of the SAQSIQ, said at a press conference that China developed a cooperative program named "HIV/AIDS Surveillance over high-risk groups of people at key ports" and have established 15 HIV/AIDS confirmative laboratories in China.
According to statistics released by the SAQSIQ, in the first half of this year, quality supervision, inspection and quarantine system around the country gave health quarantine to entry-exit personnel for 126 million person-times.
China provided health examination for 595,800 person-times, HIV/AIDS surveillance for 562,700 person-times, and vaccination for 535,200 person-times.
Among persons detected with different kinds of diseases, China detected 1,393 persons with sex disease, 329 persons with tuberculosis, 3,594 persons with hepatitis and 77 persons with other diseases.
China gave inspection and quarantine to entry-exit goods for 7.27 million batch-times with the value of US$366.4 billion in the first six months, up 10.8 percent year on year.
Among those goods, China intercepted animal and plant diseases and pests for 15,278 batches.
