A Chinese-Swedish woman, Zhang Xiue, has built a popular old people's home in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province.

Although all her family members have settled down in Sweden, Zhang was determined to return to Ningbo and the house where she was born in the 1920s.

She withdrew her savings of 400,000 yuan (US$54,000), and built a two-story old people's home, which now has 11 residents.

They enjoy life there so much one woman resident was in tears and asked to return just five days after her grandson picked her up and took her to Hong Kong.

Zhang has also donated thousands of yuan to needy people in the area.
