Thailand's award winning film Beautiful Boxer premiered last weekend in HK before a star-studded audience. The film was shot in nine provinces across Thailand and in Tokyo, Japan.

Based on the true story of Thailand's famed transvestite kick boxer, Beautiful Boxer is a poignant action drama that gets into the heart and mind of a boy who fights like a man but becomes a woman. China Radio International reported Tuesday.

Touching, funny and packed with breathtaking Thai kickboxing sequences, Beautiful Boxer traces the life of transsexual Nong Toom's childhood, his teenage life as a traveling monk and grueling days in boxing camps.

The film was shot in nine provinces across Thailand and in Tokyo, Japan.
