The release dates in the mainland China have been announced for Zhang Yimou's Qiang Li Zou Dan Ji and Chen Kaige's The Promise.
The Promise, a mega budget pan-Asian production about a love story, will be released in the mainland China on December 15. Weinstein Co., which co-owns the North American, English, Australia and South African rights to the film, has promised to show it in North America the day after.
Zhang Yimou's Qiang Li Zou Dan Ji , a small budget drama about a Japanese old man traveling to the southwestern China for fulfilling the last wish of his dying son, will be released in the mainland China on December 16.
Source said The Promise would very likely occupy all digital theaters of the country. China now has about 100 movies theaters installed with digital projectors and the number is expected to triple by December.
