In order to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Anti-Japanese War, the film On the Taihang Mountain will be in cinemas starting Monday.
The documentary film is about the story of General Zhu De's leading the anti-Japanese army to open up base areas. Apart from the typecast actors Wang Wude (acted as Zhu De) and Lu Qi (acted as Deng Xiaoping), Hong Kong actor Tony Leung and many Japanese and French actors and actresses star in it.
Other films such as My Mother Zhao Yiman, For Success, Iron Blood will be in cinemas between August and October.
Chinese Hollywood stars also busy shooting anti-Japanese-related films. Yun-fat Chow and Michelle Yeoh have been invited by Canada director Roger Spottiswoode to star in The Bitter Sea. Chow will act as a communist commander while Yeoh will be a village woman. The film tells a story about an English journalist George Hoag taking 60 Chinese orphans for a long journey in order to avoid the war.
The Eighth Route Army and General Yang Jingyu are now on CCTV. Chinese mainland actor Wu Gang lost 15 kilograms to play the part in General.
Heroes on the Luliang Mountain, produced by Zhang Jizhong, is going to be on CCTV soon.
Hong Kong actress Athena Chu stars in the still in production film Anti-Japanese Aggression Heroes. She will sing the theme song for the film.
