Theme: "Next Generation Asia"
“Next Generation Asia” was the focus of the 2001 Fortune Global Forum in Hong Kong May 8 to 10, as CEOs and top government officials from around the world gathered to discuss and debate key issues facing multinational corporations, with a special focus on Asia.
More than 700 representatives, including chairpeople, presidents and CEOs from over 200 multinationals and 150 Hong Kong companies, as well as heads of over 60 mainland enterprises and 20-odd Chinese ministers and provincial governors, attend the forum.
Discussions took place in four types of session: Plenary Sessions, Viewpoints, Tutorials, and Global Perspectives. Topics discussed included: emerging technologies; new leadership; Asian conglomerates in transition; youth culture; consumer trends; the outlook for capital markets.
Then President Jiang Zemin delivered a keynote speech at the dinner for the opening of the forum.
