The sports round-table meeting of the Ninth Fortune Global Forum in Beijing will help the Chinese capital to learn from world's latest research findings in development of Olympic Games, said Mayor Wang Qishan on Monday.
The sports round-table held Monday is conducive to the enhancement of international exchange in sports and cooperation on sports-related industries, Wang said during an exclusive interview with Xinhua. Wang said the meeting and all the activities of the Fortune Global Forum are providing a very good opportunity for Beijing to further improve its preparatory work for the 2008 Olympics.
During the three-day event, prestigious entrepreneurs and economists from overseas gather in Beijing and the world will focus on China's capital, thus helping people from all over the world acquaint with the city's development better, Wang acknowledged.
Wang noted that the 2008 Olympic Games requires concerted cooperation efforts among transport, power supply, meteorological, tourism, health, public security and sports sectors and media, and the Games also demands sound, efficient infrastructure and modernized urban management. Meanwhile, Wang said, the successful hosting of the Fortune Global Forum will enrich his city's experience in holding massive international exchanges and upgrade urban management and related services in Beijing.
