Mentougou Museum

The construction of the museum was initiated in August 1982. In September 1984, Mentougou Museum was officially open to the public. As Beijing's first county-level comprehensive museum, it is a public service unit with 11 working staff affiliated to Mengtougou Cultural Bureau.

The original museum was built in the style of gardens in the Qing Dynasty. Covering an area of 15,100 square meters, the museum has a construction area of 1,464 square meters. The museum was removed to No.4 Building in Xiangdong Living Area, Xinqiao Street in July, 1996. The first floor of the building has been rented by the museum for routine works and temporary exhibitions.

The museum houses 3,400 pieces of collection represented by folk-custom items. The basic displays include History of Mentougou, Revolutionary History, and Folk Customs. Additionally, the museum holds 12 temporary exhibitions on various subjects such as cultural relics, revolutions, folk customs, painting, and photographing etc. The forms include circular exhibitions and the regular exhibitions.
