Memorial Museum of Guo Shoujing, located in the Huitong Temple north of Xihai, is a theme person memorial of social science.
The memorial museum has three halls, displaying the achievements of Guo Shoujing, the astronomer and scientist on water conservancy of Yuan Dynasty in China. Guo Shoujing formulated Shoushi Calendar that inferred there are 365.3425days a year, and took charge of the making of more than ten astronomical instruments, such as the abridged armilla, yangyi, gaobiao, etc. These achievements are made 300 years earlier than that of Europe.
Guo Shoujing's major achievements are in water conservancy, which can be seen from the exhibit of "Guo Shoujing and Dadu water resources". He spent most of his time conducting water conservancy. He went around half of China and harnessed over a hundred rivers and lakes. He played a leading role in Dadu water conservance, taking charge of the development of Baifuyan and Huihe River as the water resource of Dadu, which promoted the economic development of Yuan Dadu.
Besides, there are models of water pass in Yuan Dynasty, iron anchors of foodstuff ships and some books concerned. Guo Shoujing's water harnessing achievements in Hebei are also introduced.
